In 2018 my wife and I joined the Fuser 2 trip. It was a really fantastic experience. Riding through Cuba together with Ernesto, Camilo and the rest of the group, all on iconic Harley Davidson motorcycles, made it an unforgettable experience. Since this trip we are still in contact with the other participants and have already made another trip to Scotland together. And for 2019 we are thinking about yet another trip to Spain. So we didn’t only have a fantastic holiday but have also formed a nice group of friends. Thanks for making this happen!
In 2018 hebben mijn vrouw en ik meegedaan aan de Fuser 2 tour. Het was een fantastische ervaring. Samen rijden door Cuba met Ernesto, Camilo en de rest van de groep, allemaal op iconische Harley Davidson motoren, maakte het tot een onvergetelijke ervaring. Sinds deze reis hebben we nog altijd contact met de rest van de deelnemers en hebben zelfs al een andere motortocht samen gemaakt in Schotland. In 2019 plannen we opnieuw een trip samen naar Spanje. We hebben dus niet alleen een fantastische vakantie gehad, maar hebben ook een leuke nieuwe groep met vrienden gevormd. Onze dank is groot!

Voici quelques mois déjà, depuis notre voyage en mai 2016 à Cuba, que nous avons repris nos habitues en Suisse et pourtant, il ne se passe pas une semaine sans que nous ayons des souvenirs de notre escapade avec l’équipe de La Poderosa Tours qui viennent animer nos conversations.

Varios meses han pasado ya desde nuestro viaje a Cuba en mayo de 2016. Hemos retornado a nuestra rutina en Suiza, sin embargo no pasa ni una semana en la que nuestros recuerdos no se escapen con el equipo de La Poderosa Tours que viene a animar nuestras conversaciones.
L’expérience vécue à Cuba a été unique. Les itinéraires proposés, avec des paysages grandioses, et la découverte de villes et villages incroyables ont été à la hauteur de nos espérances, sans oublier la qualité des hébergements proposés qui nous ont permis de rencontrer des cubains prêts à s’engager sans compter pour nous accueillir et nous faire partager leur passion.
La experiencia que vivimos en Cuba fue única. Los itinerarios propuestos con sus grandiosos paisajes e ir descubriendo ciudades y pueblos increíbles estuvieron a la altura de nuestras expectativas. No queremos olvidar la calidad de los alojamientos propuestos que nos permitieron encontrarnos con los cubanos siempre listos para comprometerse en ayudarnos y compartirnos sus pasiones
Mais revenons à notre petit groupe de motards. Voyager sur ces routes en ayant constamment un sentiment de sécurité est une gageure!! Paris réussi par Ernesto et Luis. Ils étaient toujours attentifs et anticipaient les difficultés éventuelles tout en faisant entièrement confiance en nos capacités de conducteurs. Nous avons également une pensée pour « notre fée» restée à la maison mais toujours en quête de nos nouvelles, nous pensons évidemment à Marie-Elena.
Pero volvamos a nuestro pequeño grupo de motoristas. Viajar sobre esas rutas teniendo un sentimiento de seguridad es un desafío!!! Paris dirigido por Ernesto y Luis. Estaban siempre atentos y se anticipaban a las dificultades eventuales, siempre claro confiando en nuestras capacidades de conductores. También tenemos un recuerdo para nuestra “hada” que se quedó en casa pero siempre atenta a nuestras noticias, pensamos evidentemente en María Elena.
Lors de ce voyage, nous avions eu la change d’être accompagnés par Ina, guide incroyablement compétente et qui a su, par ses explications, ses anecdotes, ou juste pas sa présence, rendre chaque visite attractive. En binôme parfait avec Ina, il y avait aussi le chauffeur du van, Raphaël, il était tellement attentionné, que nous pouvions voyager nous pouvions tout lui confier et voyager l’esprit libre .
Durante el viaje tuvimos la suerte de estar también acompañados por Ina, nuestra guía increíblemente competente y quien supo, con sus explicaciones, anécdotas o, nada más que con su presencia, darle a cada visita un atractivo. En binomio perfecto con Ina, también estaba el chofer de la van, Rafael quien ponía tanta atención que nosotros podíamos viajar libremente confiándole todo a él.
Visiter Cuba à moto et en plus en Harley Davidson ? Impossible … Et bien non !

Ce sont des passionnées de leur pays et de motos Harley Davidson. Avec eux et à moto, vous découvrirez et apprendrez à connaitre Cuba et ses habitants sous un angle différent des circuits habituels.
Nous y avons vu des choses et fait des rencontres formidables. Une Harley Davidson a ce côté magique qui attire l’attention. Et à Cuba, c’est démultiplié. Les cubains sont des passionnés de mécanique et des génies de la réparation dotés d’une extrême gentillesse. Alors quand vous circulez au guidon d’une Harley récente et que vous vous arrêtez, le contact est immédiat et la conversation s’engage immédiatement. C’est un véritable plaisir. Nous avons passé deux semaines magnifiques grâce à La Poderosa. Nous n’attendons qu’une seule chose … y retourner avec eux sur un nouveau circuit à moto !
I wanted an adventure somewhere I had never been and somewhere that seemed a bit unusual for a Harley tour. La Poderosa seemed the ideal solution.
Cuba is a beautiful country and the people are so lovely. From the city of Havana to the countryside plantations there’s so much to see. And of course the history of Cuba makes it all the more intriguing.
The Harley tour took us to some fantastic spots and our guides were great fun.
I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a bit of adventure in an unspoilt beautiful place
We just returned to Dallas from our trip to Cuba and we can’t say enough nice things about La Poderosa Tours. The connection began before we left Dallas. Maria Elena was awesome in getting us information and answering all out questions. We felt like we knew her before we ever arrived.
Acabamos de regresar de nuestro viaje a Cuba y no nos alcanzan los elogios sobre La Poderosa Tours. La conexión empezó antes de salir de Dallas. María Elena fue increíble en brindarnos información y responder todas nuestras preguntas. Nos parecía que la conocíamos antes de siquiera haber llegado.
We’d like to share some highlights and observations from our trip, hoping to entice others to travel with La Poderosa through Cuba.
Nos gustaría compartir algunos puntos destacados y observaciones de nuestro viaje, con la esperanza de seducir a otros a que viajen con La Poderosa por Cuba.
The bikes were in great shape and we were glad they kept the group small, with 9 bikes. Our group was truly an international one with 3 Austrians, 2 Swiss, 3 New Zealanders, and 2 Texans!
Las motos estaban en excelentes condiciones y nos gustó que mantuvieran el grupo reducido con 9 motos. Nuestro grupo era realmente internacional con 3 austríacos, 2 suizos, 3 neozcelandeces y dos texanas!
We were also glad we did the longer tour as we got to see so much more of the island.
También nos encantó hacer el recorrido más largo, pues pudimos ver mucho más de la isla.
Ernesto and Camillo were our tour guides. It helped having one of them in front and one in back. They could stop traffic at intersections, when needed, and even helped fill our gas tanks, which was great when there were 9-10 bikes to re-fuel in small gas stations.
We also had a Cuban professional tour guide with us who gave us walking tours of cities when we stopped and he also filled us in on lots of Cuban history.
Nuestros guías fueron Ernesto y Camilo. Ayudaba tener uno adelante y otro atrás. Podían detener el tráfico en los cruces, si hacía falta, e incluso nos ayudaban a cargar el tanque, cosa que resultaba excelente cuando había 9-10 motos para recargar en estaciones de servicio pequeñas. Además, nos acompañó un guía cubano profesional que nos hacía los recorridos a pie en las ciudades donde parábamos y nos puso al día con mucha información sobre la historia cubana.
Locals along our route were fascinated by the Harley’s, taking pictures as we rode by or coming over to look at them when we stopped. We learned we didn’t own the road but shared it with bicycles, scooters, horse-drawn carts, and, yes, potholes.
La gente local que encontramos a lo largo de nuestra ruta estaba fascinada con las Harley y sacaban fotos mientras pasábamos o se acercaban a mirarlas cuando nos deteníamos.
Aprendimos que no éramos dueños de la ruta sino que la compartíamos con bicicletas, scooters, carros tirados por caballos y, sí, baches.
The countryside during the day was beautiful and riding along the water and through the mountains was great.
La campiña durante el día era preciosa y, manejar al lado del agua y entre montañas, fue espectacular.
The hotels were good and the days were short enough so we could enjoy the beach or the pool. At night the food was wonderful and the beer was cold!
Los hoteles resultaron buenos y las jornadas eran lo suficientemente cortas como para disfrutar de la playa o la piscina. Por la noche la comida era maravillosa y ¡la cerveza estaba fría!
The Dallas Duo went a few days early to spend time in Havana.

As women we felt very safe walking anywhere, but enjoyed an occasional taxi ride in a ’54 Chevy Bellaire convertible. As relations between the US and Cuba begin to open up, we talked to a lot of Cubans about the changes coming. We could hear in their voices the pride they have in their country and willing they are to share their love and pride with those who come to visit.
Siendo mujeres, nos sentimos muy seguras caminando por todos lados, aunque disfrutamos de algún viaje en taxi en un convertible Chevy Bellaire del 54. Como las relaciones entre los Estados Unidos y Cuba están empezando a abrirse, hablamos con muchos cubanos sobre los cambios que se avecinan. Podíamos percibir en sus voces el orgullo que sienten por su país y cuán dispuestos están a compartir su amor y orgullo con los que lo visitan.
I’d read an article in the press back in 2014, about a Harley Davidson tour around Cuba called La Poderosa and run by Che Guevara’s youngest son,Ernesto. I’ve been riding motorbikes for years but had never tried a Harley. I researched a little more and decided to book myself onto a tour for March 2016.
Ya en 2014 había leído un artículo sobre un recorrido por Cuba en Harley Davidson llamado La Poderosa, organizado por Ernesto, el hijo menor del Che Guevara. Hacía años que andaba en moto, pero nunca había probado una Harley, de modo que investigué un poco más y decidí anotarme para participar del Tour en marzo de 2016.
I arrived in Havana after a long flight from London, and was greeted by a rep who helped me through security and then arranged for me to be taken to a Casa for my first overnight stay. What struck me immediately was how friendly the local Cubans are. Maria Elena called me that night to ensure I had arrived safely and to check if there was anything I needed. I went on to have a comfortable night’s rest and woke up early to have breakfast and meet some of my fellow HD riders, who had also arrived the previous night. I was travelling on my own so had no idea who the other members of the group would be. As it happened, they were five delightful chaps from Lebanon.
Llegué a La Habana luego de un largo vuelo desde Londres. Allí me recibió un representante que me ayudó con los trámites y con el traslado a una Casa para alojarme allí esa primera noche. Lo que me sorprendió de inmediato fue la amabilidad de los cubanos. María Elena me llamó esa noche para asegurarse de que había llegado bien y consultarme si necesitaba algo. Luego de un descanso reparador, me desperté temprano para desayunar y conocer a algunos de mis compañeros de ruta, que también habían llegado la noche anterior. Yo viajaba solo y no tenía idea quiénes eran los otros miembros del grupo, que resultaron ser cinco muchachos encantadores del Líbano.
On the first day, we met up with Ernesto and Camilo, and went straight to collect the bikes from the outskirts of Havana, but not before we had President Obama and his motorcade drive right past us. I felt like I had woken up in a time warp, and was fascinated by the classic cars and the colonial architecture.
El primer día, nos reunimos con Ernesto y Camilo y fuimos directamente a buscar las motos a un lugar en los suburbios de La Habana, no sin antes ver circular ante nuestros ojos al Presidente Obama y su comitiva. Fascinado con los autos clásicos y la arquitectura colonial, sentía como si me hubiera despertado en el túnel del tiempo.
An hour later, we were off. I had chosen the Harley Davidson V-Rod. Not a common choice of bike for long journeys, but in my opinion, the best bike to ride if you want a constant grin on your face underneath your helmet. What a machine. All the jokes about having a huge throbbing engine between your legs will come to mind, but there is just nothing that comes close to the joy you get every time you start that engine and ride this bike. Just make sure you are experienced enough to handle it though. It’s got a lot of power, it’s heavy, and it’s not the easiest or the most comfortable bike to ride. But it’s definitely the most fun. And that is exactly why you should choose this bike.
Una hora después, partimos. Yo había helegido la Harley Davidson V-Rod. No es la elección más común para recorridos largos, pero en mi opinión es la mejor moto si lo que uno quiere es tener la sonrisa estampada en el rostro debajo del casco durante todo el viaje. ¡Qué máquina! Seguramente lo que viene a la mente son las bromas relacionadas con tener un gran motor rugiendo entre las piernas, pero no hay nada que se asemeje a la alegría que se siente cada vez que uno enciende el motor y anda en esta moto. Eso sí: hay que estar seguro de ser un conductor lo suficientemente experimentado. Tiene mucha potencia, es pesada, y no es la moto más sencilla de usar, ni tampoco la más cómoda. Pero sí es la que depara la mayor diversión. Y es exactamente eso por lo que habría que elegirla.
Having said that, all the bikes on offer were new, looked after and gorgeous to look at.
Habiendo dicho eso, cabe agregar que todas las motos que nos ofrecieron eran nuevas, estaban bien cuidadas y eran un espectáculo en sí mismas. El solo verlas daba gusto.
Over the next few days, we rode through mountains, over the highest bridge in Cuba, along a spectacular coastline and even over a 2-3 mile stretch of road covered in migrating crabs. We went off the grid, with no internet or phone access. We drank Cuban coffee – lots of it. In the evenings we stayed in comfortable accommodation, which ranged from 5 star exclusive beach resorts in Cayo Santa Maria through to lovely cabins in Santa Clara.
Durante los días siguientes, anduvimos a través de las montañas, cruzamos el puente más alto de Cuba, recorrimos una costa espectacular, e incluso hicimos un tramo de unos pocos kilómetros a lo largo de un camino cubierto de cangrejos en plena migración. Sin acceso a Internet ni telefónico, nos desconectamos por completo. Tomamos café cubano – ¡mucho! Por las noches, el alojamiento (siempre cómodo) incluyó desde exclusivos complejos de playa 5* en Cayo Santa María hasta las acogedoras cabañas en Santa Clara.
What sets this tour apart from any other Harley Davidson tour, however, is the fact that Ernesto and Camilo are the perfect hosts and guides. Humble, and down to earth, I came away having made friends that are more like family. I also learnt so much. It was surreal visiting Che’s memorial and hearing first hand about the revolution, and what those men had to do to get their independence.
Lo que distingue a este Tour de cualquier otro organizado con motos Harley Davidson es la presencia de Ernesto y Camilo, los anfitriones y guías perfectos. Humildes y al mismo tiempo prácticos, del viaje me llevé amigos que ya son casi como de la familia. Además, aprendí mucho. La visita al mausoleo del Che y la posibilidad de escuchar de primera mano información sobre la revolución y lo que estos hombres tuvieron que hacer para lograr su independencia fue una experiencia surrealista.
Each and every part of the trip was simply perfect. Every detail was taken care of.
Todas y cada una de las etapas del viaje fue simplemente perfecta. No hubo ningún detalle librado al azar.
My wife and I decided to go on the La Poderosa motorcycle tour in Cuba. A decision we will always be grateful for. Ernesto and Camilo where the perfect host and guides. The bikes where in perfect condition and ran great. The lodging was all excellent, comfortable and welcoming to our group. All the meals where more than exceptional. We were in a group with couples and singles from 6 different countries, and many languages, and ages. They have you covered, no matter what language you speak or any special needs you may have. Nothing ever slowed us down from having the experience of a lifetime. Go with La Poderosa on their Cuba tour- you will make memories of a lifetime, see a beautiful country and meet amazing people. An account of an unforgettable experience
Somos cuatro amigos que compartimos la vida desde hace mas de cuarenta años con todo lo que eso significa. Un buen día descubrimos que existía la maravillosa posibilidad de recorrer “la tan anhelada Cuba” en moto, y no solo eso, en Harley Davison.
We have been a group of four friends for over forty years, during which we have shared the ups and downs of life. One day, we discovered we had the wonderful chance of riding Cuba, a country we had yearned to visit, by motorbike. But it was not just ANY motorbike: it was a Harley Davidson!
La primera gran sorpresa fue conocer al hermoso grupo que conforma La Poderosa Tours, empezando por María Elena, que fue la artífice de que nuestro sueño pudiera ser realidad. Compartir con Ernesto y ella la travesía fue como vivir en un sueño hecho realidad.
The first big surprise was meeting the wonderful group that makes up La Poderosa, starting with María Elena, who was instrumental in making our dream come true. Sharing the ride with Ernesto was the realization of our dreams.
Para nuestra sorpresa, conocimos amigos que parecían ser de toda la vida, compartimos charlas y añejitos como si lo fueran. Las características técnicas del tour fueron perfectas pero no tienen comparación con la calidez humana de todo el grupo (no nos olvidemos de Fidel como guía y Eliazer como conductor) que superó ampliamente las expectativas que cualquier agencia de viajes pueda ofrecer.
To our surprise, we met people who we immediately felt like life-long friends, with whom we shared long talks and “añejitos”. The tour was perfect as far as the technical aspects are concerned, but these do not compare to the warmth of the whole group (including of course Fidel, our guide, and Eliazer, the driver). They far exceeded whatever one may expect from a travel agency.
Solo tenemos palabras de agradecimiento por habernos hecho conocer la mítica isla de una manera maravillosa, emocionándonos junto a Ernesto al visitar el Mausoleo en Santa Clara, o festejando el cumpleaños de Carlos en Trinidad o el de María Elena en Cayo Santa María.
Esperamos todos desde nuestros corazones que este emprendimiento pueda seguir evolucionando y que podamos compartir nuevos viajes juntos.
We are nothing but grateful to all of them for giving us the opportunity to tour the mythical island in such a wonderful way, getting moved to tears together with Ernesto during our visit to the Mausoleum in Santa Clara, or celebrating Carlos’ birthday in Trinidad and Maria Elena’s in Cayo Santa María.
The four of us deeply and sincerely hope you may continue growing and developing your venture, so that we may share new rides together!
