The youngest son of Argentine-born Cuban revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara is behind a tourism initiative that offers expeditions around the Communist-ruled island on board Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
The leader and co-ordinator of the project, 49-year-old Ernesto Guevara, is a lawyer who “inherited from his father a passion for motorcycles, which have allowed him to traverse the country and know it like few others” and who has devoted more than 20 years of his life to restoring Harley-Davidsons.

Local dishes: Cuban cuisine is a mix of Spanish and African influences. Dishes like Moros y Cristianos (meaning “Moors and Christians”, a combination of black beans and rice), arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) and picadillo (minced beef and rice) are common, as are soups made with plantains, chick-peas or beans. Cocktails are legendary. Try Hemingway’s favourites, the mojito (rum, mint and lime) and the daquiri.
Interesting fact: Cuba is the only island in the Caribbean to have a railway. Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life by Jon Lee Anderson is considered the best biography of the mysterious Argentine. Graham Greene’s Our Man in Havana, the story of a British vacuum-cleaner salesman who is invited to become a spy in Cuba’s capital city, is a very entertaining read.
Visas: You’ll need a Tourist Card, which is easily obtained from your travel agent, for a fee of about £15. Non-tourists need to apply direct to the Cuban Consulate at 15 Grape Street, London WC2H 8DR (020 7240 2488).
Public holidays: Liberation Day (1 Jan); Labour Day; National Rebellion Day (25-27 July); Beginning of the Independence Wars (10 Oct). Christmas Day is not a public holiday in Cuba.

La première semaine, nous découvrons l’ouest de l’île, du côté de Vinales. Nous côtoyons une famille cubaine, profitons des plages enchanteresses, le tour moto ne commençant que le lundi suivant.
C’est là que nous faisons connaissance avec l’équipe de l’agence : Ernesto, Camillo, Pipo, Santiago ainsi qu’avec nos machines, de flambantes Touring Electra Glide.
En effet si la dernière importation de Harley date de 1960, Ernesto a réussi à réimporter les premières de l’ère Raoul en 2014.
Venons-en à la singularité de cette équipe : Ernesto, fils cadet du guerillero argentino-cubain Ernesto “Che” Guevara est avocat, passionné de mécanique et collectionneur d’anciennes Harley (il en a 7). Camillo, fils du combattant cubain Antonio Sanchez Diaz dit “Marcos”, compagnon de la dernière heure qui fut tué lors de la campagne bolivienne également fatale à l’Argentin en 1967.
Et c’est avec eux que, pour ce premier jour, nous découvrons au guidon de nos motos les richesses de la partie est de l’île.
Cuba, motorbikes and interesting guide was a combination I couldn’t resist.
I took apart to one week trip with Finnish group February 2018. We had several highlights at the trip, but simply best of all were Cuba and Cubans. Both of them was easier to get to know on bike than being just normal tourist. Positive thing was also safety as well on traffic as in the nightlife of Havana.
La Poderosa Tours took extremely good care of all arrangements. The whole trip was a great experience.

Olin viikon reissulla suomalaisen ryhmän kanssa helmikuussa 2018. Matkalla oli monia huippuhetkiä, mutta kaikkein parasta kuitenkin oli Kuuba ja kuubalaiset. Molempiin pääsi tutustumaan moottoripyöräillessä paremmin kuin normituristina. Positiivista oli myös, että kaikkialla oli hyvin turvallista. Tämä koskee niin liikennettä kuin Havannan öisiä katuja.

better

for me to experience Cuba, and today I can say, it needs time

assimilate

Warum Kuba? Weil ich so viel positives und interessantes über Kuba gehört habe, weil ich die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft selbst erleben und weil ich dieses wunderschöne Land einfach nur genießen wollte. Über gute Freunde erfuhr ich von La Poderosa Tours – Motorrad Touren auf Kuba, geführte von Ernesto, dessen Name wohl jeder auf dieser Insel kennt… für mich gab es keine bessere Gelegenheit Kuba zu erleben, heute kann ich sagen, es braucht Zeit diese vielen wunderschönen Eindrücke zu verarbeiten .. ich genieße immer noch .. und kann viele schöne Geschichten erzählen…. bis bald Cuba, ich komme wieder.
What a great trip and one I will never forget. Never been to Cuba and so glad I did. To see this amazing place on a Harley, in the company of other likeminded people was simply ace.
I didn’t know any of them as was a solo traveller. Within 24 hours the group from Finland, Holland, Austria, Switzerland and twe of us from Scotland (the other Scot I never met before either) were all brothers and sisters, who had such a great time together that we later in year meet up in Scotland to ride again, this time on our own Harleys around the beautiful Scottish Highlands. We plan to ride together in southern Spain this year.
All this was made possible by the team in Cuba and the way they made sure everything we could need was there for us. The bikes, the guides, the support team, the places we ate, the places we stayed, the roads we rode, the places we visited, everything was spot on. No day was to long in the saddle, but we saw so much of this stunning and friendly island. Our La Poderosa road crew and guides became family to us and did everything they could to keep us safe and ensure we had fun. They ate with us, rode with us, educated us, entertained us and had a good few beers and the odd bottle of rum with us. So, as you can I hope see, I had a fantastic trip and one I’d strongly recommend.

In 2018 my wife and I joined the Fuser 2 trip. It was a really fantastic experience. Riding through Cuba together with Ernesto, Camilo and the rest of the group, all on iconic Harley Davidson motorcycles, made it an unforgettable experience. Since this trip we are still in contact with the other participants and have already made another trip to Scotland together. And for 2019 we are thinking about yet another trip to Spain. So we didn’t only have a fantastic holiday but have also formed a nice group of friends. Thanks for making this happen!
In 2018 hebben mijn vrouw en ik meegedaan aan de Fuser 2 tour. Het was een fantastische ervaring. Samen rijden door Cuba met Ernesto, Camilo en de rest van de groep, allemaal op iconische Harley Davidson motoren, maakte het tot een onvergetelijke ervaring. Sinds deze reis hebben we nog altijd contact met de rest van de deelnemers en hebben zelfs al een andere motortocht samen gemaakt in Schotland. In 2019 plannen we opnieuw een trip samen naar Spanje. We hebben dus niet alleen een fantastische vakantie gehad, maar hebben ook een leuke nieuwe groep met vrienden gevormd. Onze dank is groot!

Ziemlich genau 50 Jahre nach dem Tod seines Vaters steht Ernesto Guevera auf der Plaza de la Revolución in Havanna. Hinter ihm, an der Fassade des Innenministeriums, prangt das berühmte Konterfei von Che Guevara, doch sein Sohn hat dafür kaum einen Blick. Er muss sich um seine Kunden kümmern, zahlungskräftige Touristen, die mit ihm eine Motorradtour durch Kuba gebucht haben – auf mächtigen Harley-Davidsons, importiert aus dem Land des Klassenfeinds.
Guevara junior hat heute äußerlich wenig gemein mit dem “Alten”, wie er ihn nennt. Der Alte war schön, wie sein Sohn in jungen Jahren. Gesegnet mit einem Aussehen, das ihn zu einer der größten Ikonen des 20. Jahrhunderts werden ließ. Zum sexy Comandante, mit Barett, Zigarre und Mähne, zum “vollständigsten Menschen seiner Zeit”, wie Jean-Paul Sartre ihn einmal nannte. Selbst heute, ein halbes Jahrhundert nach seiner Hinrichtung im bolivianischen Dschungel, erliegen Menschen seiner magischen Wirkung.

Voici quelques mois déjà, depuis notre voyage en mai 2016 à Cuba, que nous avons repris nos habitues en Suisse et pourtant, il ne se passe pas une semaine sans que nous ayons des souvenirs de notre escapade avec l’équipe de La Poderosa Tours qui viennent animer nos conversations.

Varios meses han pasado ya desde nuestro viaje a Cuba en mayo de 2016. Hemos retornado a nuestra rutina en Suiza, sin embargo no pasa ni una semana en la que nuestros recuerdos no se escapen con el equipo de La Poderosa Tours que viene a animar nuestras conversaciones.
L’expérience vécue à Cuba a été unique. Les itinéraires proposés, avec des paysages grandioses, et la découverte de villes et villages incroyables ont été à la hauteur de nos espérances, sans oublier la qualité des hébergements proposés qui nous ont permis de rencontrer des cubains prêts à s’engager sans compter pour nous accueillir et nous faire partager leur passion.
La experiencia que vivimos en Cuba fue única. Los itinerarios propuestos con sus grandiosos paisajes e ir descubriendo ciudades y pueblos increíbles estuvieron a la altura de nuestras expectativas. No queremos olvidar la calidad de los alojamientos propuestos que nos permitieron encontrarnos con los cubanos siempre listos para comprometerse en ayudarnos y compartirnos sus pasiones
Mais revenons à notre petit groupe de motards. Voyager sur ces routes en ayant constamment un sentiment de sécurité est une gageure!! Paris réussi par Ernesto et Luis. Ils étaient toujours attentifs et anticipaient les difficultés éventuelles tout en faisant entièrement confiance en nos capacités de conducteurs. Nous avons également une pensée pour « notre fée» restée à la maison mais toujours en quête de nos nouvelles, nous pensons évidemment à Marie-Elena.
Pero volvamos a nuestro pequeño grupo de motoristas. Viajar sobre esas rutas teniendo un sentimiento de seguridad es un desafío!!! Paris dirigido por Ernesto y Luis. Estaban siempre atentos y se anticipaban a las dificultades eventuales, siempre claro confiando en nuestras capacidades de conductores. También tenemos un recuerdo para nuestra “hada” que se quedó en casa pero siempre atenta a nuestras noticias, pensamos evidentemente en María Elena.
Lors de ce voyage, nous avions eu la change d’être accompagnés par Ina, guide incroyablement compétente et qui a su, par ses explications, ses anecdotes, ou juste pas sa présence, rendre chaque visite attractive. En binôme parfait avec Ina, il y avait aussi le chauffeur du van, Raphaël, il était tellement attentionné, que nous pouvions voyager nous pouvions tout lui confier et voyager l’esprit libre .
Durante el viaje tuvimos la suerte de estar también acompañados por Ina, nuestra guía increíblemente competente y quien supo, con sus explicaciones, anécdotas o, nada más que con su presencia, darle a cada visita un atractivo. En binomio perfecto con Ina, también estaba el chofer de la van, Rafael quien ponía tanta atención que nosotros podíamos viajar libremente confiándole todo a él.
